Sucess Stories

Though some teens leave TTO, wanting independence and freedom, which makes Miss Cu and other caretakers very sad, there are some who stay and become good older brothers and sisters to the younger ones. I interviewed several of these young people.

Ms. Hang came to TTO when she was ten years old. Her parents had financial difficulty and couldn’t raise her. She said the following; “ After I arrived there, I felt love from Miss Cu and other children. I know Miss Cu loves all the children at TTO. I graduated from a University and studied English at an English school. I got a job at an advertisement company and worked at production department. At the end of 2007, I got married to a man who was a salesman of furniture. Now I have an eighteen months old son, a loving husband and lives with my husband’s family. I visit TTO occasionally and attend some of their activities. I’m very thankful for Miss Cu and others who helped me a lot.”

Miss T. and her older sister were brought to TTO when they were ten and twelve. The parents couldn’t take care of them due to financial difficulty. At TTO, they felt love form Miss Cu and other orphans. Her older sister graduated from one of good Universities here and currently working at a tour company. She speaks English fluently and can speak some Japanese as well. Miss T. has graduated the same University recently and is looking for a job at the moment. They both had opportunities to study English at an English school. When they have free time, they go to TTO to help the orphans with some activities. They have taught them to dance at Christmas events. Miss T. has a strong desire to look after TTO when Miss Cu is too old to run it.

Phuc, nineteen years old started living at TTO at the age of two. Her parents also had financial difficulty in raising him. He was a bright kid and a Father from a church supported his education. Now he studies tourism at a University in Ho Chi Minh city. At night he works at a restaurant. In future, he wants to become a manager of a hotel or a restaurant. He’s got a cheerful personality.

Tinh, twentyfour years old and his older brother graduated a high school. As they work, they study Korean language. They visit TTO sometimes.

Thao is nineteen years old. Miss Cu went to a province near the City and brought her to TTO when she was seven years old. Since she was a high school student, she was often in the kitchen, cooking for other orphans. Though she got some help from others, it’s not easy to cook for fifty, or sixty people. Now she studies at a college to become a teacher for a kindergarten.

A few students got award for being excellent students academically and several of them got one for being fair academically.
