Christmas 2012 – A season of joy and happiness

December – always said to be a month of joy and happiness, couldn’t have been truer. We went to Truyen Tin Orphanage on 23rd December for the Christmas Party. If a month ago we still worried about how this Christmas for the orphans would be, their happy faces and shining smiles put all worry to rest. Thanks to our supporters, we were able to have the party for the orphans as well as give gifts to the children.

Getting off the motorbikes, we stepped into the house and beheld all of the familiar faces, but the difference was: everyone seemed to become more excited and eager once they saw us which of course, made us happy too. We sat around and talked excitedly, until a table loaded with gifts was brought out and placed in the living room. The kids suddenly stopped talking, and rushed to the table. The room became noisy and chaotic in all the excitement. They were so curious that they just kept staring at the gifts on the table. We then opened the gifts together and took a lot of pictures.

Finally, lunch time, the time everyone was waiting for arrived and Miss Cu announced the reason of the party and also gave a big thanks to the supporters of TTO. After a long big hand was given, we all began to eat, enjoying both the meal and the fellowship. The food was so delicious that we thought we were eating in a restaurant. In the meantime, Miss Cu was telling us a story of her selling dumplings during the fair just before Christmas. She said it was quite difficult this year, because they had more competitors than in previous years. But amazingly or perhaps miraculously, at the last moment, all of the dumplings were bought by one sweet man. They didn’t even have one more to sell. That was good news for all of the children here.

Also, there was a teen girl from Japan who was really beautiful and sweet. She told us how she had learned about TTO from the website and decided to come and visit TTO during her short trip to Vietnam. Following that, all of us then listened to many lovely stories from the kids.

At that moment while looking into the eyes of the children, I understood why I love them so much. Merry Christmas children, I wish you all the best Christmas of your life.
